I want to direct your attention to the evidence below from one day ago, which proves humans want to eat feral domestic rabbits and there is not ONE ALBERTA LAW in existence to protect the rabbits from such a fate.

Allowed to eat the rabbits outside the Repsol (old talisman) Centre?

Seeking Advice

Question is pretty much it. I am looking to save on my grocery bill this year and was curious as to the legality of catching and eating those little critters that are abundant around the old talisman centre. I was perusing the provincial legislation and CoC's by-laws pertaining to the hunting of wild and/or invasive animals and there doesn't appear to be any clear verbiage on the creatures in question.

I don't see the problem, as cute and plump and succulent looking as they are this season I think they qualify as invasive and are in such abundance (especially this year with the lack of foot traffic to and from the gymnasium) that I suspect it wouldn't be a disservice to anyone or mother nature. I personally hunt at night and don't think I would be traumatizing anyone. In the rare event someone did see me: I hunt in such a way that a passer-by would probably think i am just playing with the rabbits or just dismiss me as h&h (homeless and harmless).

Rabbits are nutritionally dense so we would only be harvesting a few a month and we intend to not let any part go to waste, my partner worked in the tannery industry for a few years in the early 2000's and is versed in the curing and processing of pelts and other co-products into consumer good so this will also allow us to contribute to the economy and community while keeping a roof over our head.

Am I missing something glaringly obvious here, legally speaking, or is this a way to save? Times have been tough for my partner and I and we are looking for any advantage we can get in hopes for a better new year.

Thank you for your time.

Why not go for the big ones elsewhere in the city? Seems like way better bang for the buck

Where specifically? I know from rigourous observation that the old talisman rabbits lack a developed sense of self preservation and would not require as much of a time investment to catch. From what I have seen the larger suburban rabbits are far to rascally to be outsmarted.

THIS MAKES ME ANGRY, VERY, VERY, ANGRY.  He knows the rabbits are more trusting and are more easily caught.  I guess I am going to be out there at night wrecking his traps.
