Citizens for the Future of Ft. Negley Park
Jan 30, 2018
Well friends,
Our efforts were noticed in Monday's edition of the New York Times!
It is a very well done piece which I hope you will read and share.
The part it doesn't get quite right, is the same thing that the out of state developers never understood about us which is the depth and the breadth of our coalition.
When we started this petition, and in the kitchen-table meetings, church-basement briefings, the community-center calls to action, and hundreds of calls and emails since - I have been overwhelmed at the kaleidoscope of people coming together in this cause.
Early on we had letters of support from the NAACP, the Equal Justice Initiative, battlefield preservationist groups, the descendants of the Overton family that gave the land to the city to create a federal military battlefield park in 1928. I even received an email from the former U.S. Secretary of the Senate under Trent Lott.
Thank you, all, for being a part of that chapter - coming together we were unbeatable.
But mostly, thank you for adding your name here, to be a part of the Citizens for the Future of Ft. Negley.
Please continue to share. Our work is not done.
