OSD (Office of the Secretary of Defense) has directed a pause on both voluntary and involuntary separations for military members with, or showing symptoms of, Gender Dysphoria.
While this pause currently affects only the Air Force, the intent is for OSD to review all Services’ processes and verify approval authorities, ensuring compliance with law and existing regulations.
What this means: Either separations will be judged fairly under existing law, or all Services will align under one standard approach.
✅ This is proof that advocacy is working! Visibility, press, congressional pressure, and petitions are forcing compliance and accountability. This is a step in the right direction — but we must keep the pressure on.

In June 2025, the Air & Space Force approved early retirements (TERA) for members with 15–18 years of service. On August 4th, those retirements were rescinded—without appeal or due process—forcing members into separation with severance instead of retirement benefits they were promised.
This reversal is unjust, undermines trust, and disproportionately harms transgender service members—especially as it coincides with the rollback of affirmed gender markers across DoD systems.
I urge you to:
1. Investigate the legality of rescinding approved retirements.
2. Demand due process and appeal rights for affected members.
3. Review whether these actions target LGBTQ+ service members.
4. Restore the retirements already granted.
