Joel Gerring with the Michigan DNR initiated a new program within the Wildlife Division to allow this memorial! 

The North Fox Island memorial will be the first under the Wildlife Division’s new “Memorial Tree and Bench Program.”

While the state has approved the project, the cost of the memorial and transporting it to North Fox Island fall to us.

Our goal is to have the bench installed by July 2026, marking the 50th anniversary of when these events were first exposed.
