HONOR COLLEEN SLEMMER! Christa Pike MUST be Executed in Tennessee!
The Issue
To: Governor Bill Lee, the Tennessee Department of Correction, the Tennessee Attorney General, and the Tennessee Supreme Court:
CHRISTA PIKE MUST BE EXECUTED WITHOUT FURTHER DELAY. A promise made by the courts MUST be kept. A failed attempt does not erase the verdict! Use any lawful method authorized under Tennessee law. A sentence the courts have affirmed must be carried out. When justice is promised and never delivered, public trust in the courts erodes.
We, the undersigned, demand that Tennessee officials:
1. Complete the independent review immediately. Correct every procedural, personnel, and training failure,
2. Remove the matorium on executions in the state of Tennessee
3. Carry out the lawful sentence imposed on Christa Pike without further delay to
Honor the rights of Colleen Slemmer's family to finality.
Background: On January 12, 1995, 18-year-old Christa Pike murdered 19-year-old Colleen Slemmer, her fellow student at a Knoxville Job Corps center. In 1996, a Tennessee jury convicted Pike of first-degree murder and sentenced her to death. For three decades, the courts have reviewed that sentence and upheld it.
On September 30, 2026, the state's attempt to carry out the sentence failed. Governor Lee then suspended executions and ordered an independent review. The sentence remains the lawful judgment of a jury and the courts.
Colleen Slemmer was NOT the only victim. Her family has lived with this loss through three decades of appeals and delays. Honor Colleen's memory. Help give her family the closure they have waited decades for,
