Protect threatened owl species from logging, who nest in ‘Fairy Creek’ Old Growth forest
The Issue
Dear Honourable Johnathon Wilkinson,
Please use your authority as Minister of Endangered species to protect the ‘Blue listed’ Screeching owl from the devastating impacts of logging, occurring along the coast of BC.
These screeching owls habitats have been suffering due to Old Growth logging and land development.
According to the British Columbia Wildlife Act, screech owls are considered a threatened species who have been recorded in ‘Fairy Creek’ Old Growth forest. These threatened species are dependent on the features of old-growth forest stands for its nest sites, roosts, cover and prey. Not only are screech owls impacted, other red listed bird species such as the Northern Spotted owl prefer to near in Old Growth forests and due to logging, less than 100 pairs are estimated to be in BC.
Please use the BC Wildlife act and halt all logging in ‘Fairy Creek’ Old Growth Forest. Let's protect these threatened species and their habitat before it is too late.
