Shadow Minister of immigration Hon. Shayne Neumann supports fair parent visa.

As you are already aware of the delay in the new parent visa by the Government, we all are very frustrated by the delay. It has been a long journey for us as a family, as a team and as a community. The government made our simple proposal so complicated that, we are still struggling to achieve it. In the last federal election, all major political parties announced their version of the Long stay visa for parents but sadly we are still struggling to attain it.

As a campaigner and as a team, we are trying our best to get a fair visa for our parents. Yesterday, we met the Shadow Minister of Immigration Hon. Shayne Neuman about this issue at a community event. This meeting was specially arranged in Adelaide regarding the parent visa by Hon. Steve Georgians MP and Hon. Russell Wortley MLC. It was a very productive meeting and Mr Shayne Neuman has assured the members of the community that the Labor party will oppose any unfair visa fees or conditions. He assured us that there would be no changes in Labor party's policy on the parent visa for the next federal elections. Labor party's policy in the last federal elections was a 3-year visa with a $5000 refundable bond.

He also wrote the letter to the new Immigration Minister Hon. David Coleman on our behalf. We are seeking more support from other politicians on this issue as well. It is a long journey and all I can say is that we are on the right path.
