Brant Community Healthcare System (BCHS) is the primary acute care facility serving Brantford, the County of Brant, Six Nations of the Grand River, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nations, and surrounding communities. We care for over 78,000 patients annually in our emergency department and urgent care centre, and as our community continues to grow, so does the need for increased capacity in our healthcare system.

BCHS serves a diverse and growing population and we are almost always operating over our 321-bed capacity, with most units and the emergency department housing patients in hallways.

New infrastructure is required to deliver high quality care which our community needs and deserves.  

We have been waiting for approval to plan a new hospital since February 2020. We continue to advocate for BCHS with the government and have repeatedly invited Ministry of Health Capital Branch staff to tour our facilities so they can experience first-hand the urgent needs we face.
