Homeless Refuge Centres Urgent for Ipswich

The issue

Over the last decade, our non-profit organisation dedicated to aiding those impacted by homelessness has witnessed an alarming deterioration of the situation. Instead of improvements, we find our communities struggling more severely than ever before.

Essential charities that have been the lifeline of our society are reaching their tipping points due to lack of sufficient funds and support, with many forced to shut their doors. This has grave implications: an increase in illnesses being seen, more tent cities built for shelter, and the mental health statistics rising drastically.

Our city of Ipswich currently houses a significant population battling the cost of living and homelessness. Regualrdless of future housing and infrastructure being build or plans in the make, we need to focus on the urgent and forefront care that is needed on a daily basis for those In Need!

------------------------‐----‐---------‐---------------------------------‐-----

Where to they stay while homes are being built?

Where are all their belongs go when they have to sleep in a tent or car?

How can they afford bond once all their funds are depleted?

Where to go for nightly meals and Showers?

What about the safety for children?

------‐----------------------‐--------------------------------‐-----------‐-----------------------------

It is imperative now more than ever that we act on this crisis to provide our residents the basic human rights and care that they need.

We wholeheartedly call for aid from our state government, federal government, Councillors, community spokespersons, representatives, and city advocates. Anyone who will Help!

This plea is for the immediate establishment of two Homeless Refuge Centres in Ipswich city. These centres will provide the desperately needed relief for our individuals living on the streets, ensuring they receive the necessary assistance to help get them off the streets and start the recovery process.

This could open up Job opportunities for Centrelink Jobseekers, Volunteers and those seeking JobReady Experience.

Trainee or Apprenticeship in hospitality, social work, security, gardening, cleaning ect could also be an option. Even including school workshop days for life experience of helping others!

Rotation of nightly Charity Guest Registered could keep and ensure community involvement and support

Join us, as we push for a change, and let's ensure our community no longer suffers in silence. Please, sign this petition, declaring your support for the establishment of two Homeless Refuge Centres in Ipswich, to fight the escalating concerns of homelessness and the dangerously rising mental health statistics. It's high time we take a stand, and it starts with you.
