The Home Office’s Hostile Environment policy has been wrecking migrants lives since it was introduced by the then Home Secretary, Theresa May, in 2014. Owing mainly to no Right of Appeal in most immigration refusals, migrants lives have become a living hell. This is a serious breach of the Article 6 and 8 of the European Conventions of Human Rights.

It takes away migrants basic necessities like the Right to Rent, Right to Medical, Right to Work, in reality, the Right to Live in the UK. It has left many of them homeless, destitute, unable to feed their families, and for some, the unbearable stress have even led to death, after getting detained, at immigration detention centres.
Some become so destitute that they are forced to “voluntarily return” to their country of origin, although they had whole heartedly accepted UK as their home and had established great family lives and social and financial ties, but the Government closed their doors on them.

This is happening with non-EU migrants and can be considered to be a form of racism, from high level. More worrying is that hate crimes and racism claims get handled, very efficiently, yet this has been making news since last year, but there hasn’t been any significant immediate relief for the sufferers. Non EU migrants pay extortionate fees to apply for visas to stay in the UK. A family of 4 now will have to pay around £8000-£10000, for one extension of stay.

The dilemma is that, most of the sufferers are highly skilled, highly educated, tax payer immigrants, who have been contributing positively and boosting the UK economy, yet some, even after spending decades, are left in misery, facing deportation and outright racism.

The SNP MP Glasgow, Alison Thewliss has been actively supporting the cause and has fought for her highly skilled constituents. She had also managed to get the cause debated in Parliament, yet the Immigration Minister read out a scripted reply.
The group @HighlySkilledUK (twitter handle), and the Migrants Right Network have been making substantial efforts to support the Highly Skilled Migrants, recently leading to a Test Case being heard at the Court of Appeal.

Highly Skilled have lost everything they had earned in the UK, their work, their house, their valuable possessions, and even their reputation and some their families and lives.

Someone needs to take responsibility and act fast, before another migrant is treated unfairly, or before another innocent life is lost. Migrants residing in the UK need protection from this hostility.
We, Highly Skilled migrants demand the opposition MPs to back the migrants, the Right to Appeal and respect and protect their families and their Human Rights.
Scrap the unfair Hostile Environment policy and give the migrants their deserved right to live peacefully in the UK.
Offer mediation to the migrants so that they can get back to their work and continue to feed their innocent children and families.

Consider the migrants human and not an immigration removal target or deportation target, to bring the net migration number down.
