There will be two different opportunities on Jan. 19 for you to make comments about the proposed private skyscraper on public oceanfront land. You can make a citizen comment at 9 AM at the CRA meeting or at 5 PM for regular Citizen Comments also in the Commission Chambers at City Hall. The mayor and commissioners will be there both at 9 AM and at 5 PM and will listen to each resident speak (each resident can speak for a maximum of 3 minutes).
At this time, you do not have to pre-register beforehand. Just wear a mask and bring ID and go up to the 2nd floor to sign up to speak. Fill out a speaker's card when you arrive, and hand it to the city clerk at the front of the room (Commission Chambers, 2nd floor, City Hall). Then wait for your name to be called.
9 AM is the CRA meeting- the city commission is the Board. Citizen Comments are in the beginning of the meeting and you can speak about any topic, including the 1301 proposal.
5 PM is when Citizen Comments are always held (3rd Wednesday of every month). Again, you can speak about any topic, including private skyscrapers on public oceanfront land.
Don't forget to sign the letter to the city commission at NoNewTower.com and/or send an email JLevy@hollywoodfl.org, KBiederman@hollywoodfl.org, CShuham@hollywoodfl.org, TCallari@hollywoodfl.org, LSherwood@hollywoodfl.org, AGruber@hollywoodfl.org, LAnderson@hollywoodfl.org
It’s really irrelevant how many public spaces there are, how many sculptures would be in the developer’s sculpture garden, “projected” revenue, or how anyone feels- whether they want the condo or not. If the proposal has a private condo building, it should be rejected. That’s not what the land was meant for! A private skyscraper should never have even been considered for these 4 public acres, land meant for parks, recreation, open space, and public use. We can improve the property WITHOUT a private skyscraper. We can have a beautiful community center without a 347 foot private wall on the property.

Update from Commissioner Caryl Shuham:
Though we thought the commission vote on the proposed Related Condominium public-private partnership (P3) redevelopment project at the beach community center site would come up before year end, that will not happen. We have no more commission meetings set until 1/19/22. That is the soonest the item might hit the agenda, but staff has indicated further delays are possible.
I want to express my sincere thanks to the many, many residents who have weighed in on this issue and encourage you to continue to do so until the item is finally voted upon.
