Hold Trump Admin Accountable for Enabling Criminal Employers to Exploit Illegal Migrants
The Issue
HOLD PRESIDENT TRUMP ACCOUNTABLE FOR BREAKING HIS CAMPAIGN PROMISES AND ENABLING CRIMINAL EMPLOYERS TO MORE EASILY EXPLOIT ILLEGAL MIGRANTS TO THE DETRIMENT OF AMERICAN WORKERS AND LAW-ABIDING BUSINESS OWNERS
This petition seeks to mandate that the Trump Administration post a link to a regularly updated, comprehensive list of the American Business owners participating in the Trump Administration’s ‘Work Program’ at the official White House website home page.
Please note that while this petition recognizes that the Trump Administration’s ‘Work Program’ flips the switch and makes ‘illegal’ migrants ‘legal’ laborers, for the sake of this petition the term ‘illegal migrant’ will apply to those migrants that previous to President Trump’s ‘Work Program’ would have been classified as ‘illegal’ per the American labor laws that the Trump Administration has decided to override.
In addition to the names of those American businesses opting into the ‘Work Program’, we request the routine reporting of stats for each participating business that include the number of illegal migrants enrolled in the ‘Work Program’, total workforce employees, the number of illegal migrants whose work statuses flip from ‘illegal’ to ‘legal’ between reporting periods, and pay rates for ‘illegal’ vs ‘legal’ employees.
We also request the Trump Administration’s ‘Work Program’ guidelines for American business owners, and an explanation of what is meant by “illegal aliens making restitution” under the ‘Work Program’, if it applies, be made public at this link.
It is beyond condescending for the Trump Administration to claim that this initiative will not affect American workers. This ‘Work Program’ will affect the American labor market by driving down competitive wages for American workers and legal migrants and reducing job vacancies.
The American government has ALWAYS interfered in the American labor market on the part of American business owners and is complicit with and enables American business owners to have many sizable competitive advantages to the detriment of American workers.
Now, regardless that some American business owners have been violating preexisting labor laws that (some would argue, very unfairly) give American business owners access to a supply of labor OUTSIDE OF THE AMERICAN LABOR FORCE that American workers must compete with for jobs, the Trump administration is presenting a new 'Work Program' so that these law violating American business owners can not only KEEP the illegal migrants they have been employing outside of the law, there appears to be a possibility that the Trump Administration will provide them with ADDITIONAL illegal migrant labor at their behest.
Given there hasn’t even been a reprimand from President Trump with regard to these American business owners bypassing immigration laws to hire illegal migrants, it appears the Trump Administration is also granting these criminal American business owners immunity from being charged for the labor laws they have self-admittedly been breaking for years.
Regardless of it coming at a cost premium, many of us want to focus on supporting those American business owners who hire Americans and LEGAL migrants at competitive wages. This new Trump era ‘Work Program’ policy will be as destructive to ethical American business owners who do not opt to use exploited labor as it is to the American labor force and legal migrants.
If the Trump administration is not going to hold criminal American employers who exploit human beings at a disadvantage for cheap labor accountable, The American People will.
Questions & Answers
Question:
What are you talking about?
Answer:
While denying that illegal farm and hospitality workers will receive amnesty, President Trump, Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins, and Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer said on July 8, 2025, that the Trump Administration is working on “streamlining” legal status for illegal aliens on farms.
“There’s no amnesty,” Trump said. “What we’re doing is we’re getting rid of criminals, but we are doing a 'Work Program.”
He added, “we’ve got to give the farmers the people they need, but we’re not talking amnesty.”
President Trump has already said the ‘Work Program’ will be extended as an option to business owners within the the hospitality and recreation industries.
Question:
What will the Trump Administration ‘Work Program’ be?
Answer:
I can’t say for sure, given we have gotten zero transparency with regard to the finer details from the Trump Administration.
A guess is that guidance is coming from the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA) via leadership at the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).
The NCBA represents the BigPackers and Corporations. The NCBA does not represent the small and independent cattle producers, many of whom do not exploit illegal labor. Many small producers hire locals and some follow the law by using legal and temporary visa programs.
Here are two excepts from the NCBA 2024 Policy Book “Immigration Reform” section, one of them pushing for illegal migrants to achieve legal status after breaking our laws:
- Provides opportunity for current employees found to be in the U.S. illegally to apply for legal status.
- Allows non-felon aliens to make restitution for unlawful entry into the U.S. and achieve temporary legal work status.
Question:
Wow! What are the implications of this, if this is the basis of the Trump Administration’s ‘Work Program’?
Answer:
Note, Neither item has these illegal migrants being deported and coming back through legal channels. Item #2 appears to associate being exploited by the American business owners as ‘restitution’ for coming into the United States illegally. I’d call it ‘conditional indentured servitude with zero checks and balances for abuse’, given the one thing the Trump Administration has told us is that the American business owners opting into the ‘Work Program’ will be ‘vouching’ for the illegal immigrants on their work force. Isn’t it beautiful, #1 changes the status of the illegal migrants to legal! So all of a sudden, these American business owners have a legal migrant work force. And let’s not pretend that item #2 will not lead right over to item #1 once they have achieved their ‘temporary’ legal work status. While logically this plays out as if it were some sort of fantasy Make-a-Wish program for ‘National Cattlemen’, with Trump as their ‘Fairy Godmother’, given we have received zero enlightenment from the Trump Administration this is the only information I could find to share. That is the reason we are mandating that the guidelines of this program are shared with us by the Trump Administration, and also requesting routine reporting of ‘Work Program’ stats so that we can track each business owner’s exploitation of illegal migrants. We will not stand by while President Trump waves his wand and magically pronounces their illegal migrants ‘legal’.
Question:
But these criminal American business owners say that without maintaining their exploitable illegal migrant employees, Americans won’t fill these jobs, and without access to illegal migrant labor the nation will starve. Is that true?
Answer:
While it is always left unsaid, everyone who understands the situation know that Americans are not filling these positions because these American business owners are offering less than competitive wages. Given they maintain an illegal migrant workforce it is very hard to prove via publicized wage rates, but there is a price point for every job and if these business owners were offering competitive rates, Americans would fill the positions.
A lot of American bigots attempted to use the ‘Who is going to pick the cotton?’ argument to fight against slavery being abolished. I do not recall any chapters in history books where Americans had to go naked as a result of slavery being outlawed.
Question:
Isn’t exploiting people at a disadvantage for cheap labor something that the Trump Administration should be against? Aren’t there human rights violation concerns?
Answer:
Yes. It is blatant discrimination and it creates a step above a slave class. No one should have to work for less than a competitive wage, and no one would if the government didn’t interfere in the labor market to the benefit of American business owners, many who are already breaking labor laws. The American government should be setting an example for the rest of the world when it comes to honoring human rights, not trying to sneak a blatantly exploitative ‘Work Program’ past the American people so that greedy, self-serving American employers can take more of the pie for themselves at the cost of exploiting disadvantaged human beings.
Question:
What would happen if an external, exploitable workforce was no longer an option for American business owners?
Answer:
Either these American business owners would close up shop, or they would hire American workers.
Question:
How do these American business owners attract American workers who aren't willing to work for noncompetitive pay?
Answer:
They set a wage rate, and if no Americans apply, they continue to increase that wage rate up to the point they attract American workers, and the positions are filled.
Question:
What happens to these American business owners if they can’t afford to pay American workers competitive wages?
Answer:
Those American business owners go out of business, and the demand for the products they provide shifts to new American business market entrants and their fellow American competitors who ARE successful at maintaining operations while paying Americans competitive wages.
Question:
Where are these American business owners supposed to find the money to pay competitive wages to Americans?
Answer:
The income gap grows wider and wider every year. American business owners have made themselves a lot of money exploiting illegal migrants (among many other questionable practices the government is complicit with or even enables them to do) rather than paying Americans competitive wages. Let them dip into their own bank accounts. Let corporate take a pay cut. Let these business owners figure out ways to make their operations more efficient and more cost effective. Whatever happened to free enterprise? Why is the American government taking it upon itself to bail out American business owners that are such corporate-suite failures, they cannot afford to pay Americans competitive wages??? I don’t see the American government bending over backwards trying to facilitate matching unemployed Americans with lucrative jobs.
Question:
Are there not preexisting legal pathways available to American business owners who want to hire migrant workers?
Answer:
The H-2A visa program exists to legally supply agriculture with screened, seasonal workers who earn a decent wage and are offered some protections.
Question:
Why would American business owners bypass the H-2A visa program and hire migrants illegally?
Answer:
The America business owners who have bypassed this program to hire unscreened, vulnerable illegal migrants at slave wages save on registration fees, waiting periods, litigation concerns and taxes. Additionally, keeping your illegal employees off of the books allows you complete control over those employees.
Question:
Should the Trump Administration accommodate these American business owners that have been breaking labor laws with a new program that makes illegal migrants even more accessible to them to exploit as if it were lawful, given the H-2A visa program is obviously so much of an inconvenience for them to pursue that they have been bypassing it altogether?
Answer:
Agricultural employers should be forced to transition to H-2A employment - not rewarded for defying the law. Good luck prosecuting any employer once this precedent is set.
Question:
Are we not a nation of ‘law & order’? These American business owners have been breaking labor laws by employing an illegal workforce, and it does not sound like they will be investigated or charged. I remember President Trump parroting for 4 years straight everywhere he campaigned that under his presidency the USA would be a nation of ‘law & order’. Did he forget his promise? Why do these law-breaking American business owners get a pass?
Answer:
Hiring an undocumented worker is a criminal offense.
Being an undocumented worker is a civil infraction.
The Trump Administration, however, appears to be granting criminal American business owners immunity with regard to their egrarious violation of USA labor laws.
I would love to hear Secretary Treasurer Bessent’s calculation of the tab these criminal American business owners would owe the United States Treasury if the Trump Administration investigated and cumulatively charged them for their their decades of labor crimes. I wonder why The American People have never heard that figure in a televised cabinet meeting?
Question:
I just heard about an initiative the Republicans passed where moving forward Medicaid recipients are mandated to work for benefits. Couldn’t they fill these jobs?
Answer:
Not as long as the Federal government is going to conduct itself as a temp agency for exploitable labor that American business owners can dial up. Not only will there be fewer vacancies, President Trump’s ‘Work Program’ will suppress competitive wages for ALL lower tier American workers. It will affect the entire American workforce in time, as it most certainly will drive down baseline American working wages overall, allowing American business owners in other industries to offer below what a competitive wage should be, too.
If I were a Medicaid recipient, I would start a class action lawsuit and sue the American government for interfering with competitive wages and job vacancies in the American labor market. The Trump Administration’s ‘Work Program’ is giving American business owners who exploit outside labor the largest competitive advantage over American workers that could be handed to them. Good luck finding an economist that can successfully argue that Trump’s new ‘work program’ doesn’t tip the labor market enormously in the favor of a bunch of greedy corporate American business owners at the disadvantage of unemployed job seeking American laborers, including the Medicaid recipients the Trump Administration is mandating work for benefits.
Question:
How is this “Work Program’ fair to American business owners who DO pride themselves in hiring Americans at competitive wages, and who DO follow labor laws when hiring migrant labor?
Answer:
It isn’t. And some smaller farm American business owners have reached out to the Trump Administration to express that. President Trump’s new ‘Work Program’ ensures the American businesses hiring illegal migrants instead of American workers yield the upper hand over their market competitors who hire American/legal migrant labor. In fact, President Trump’s 'Work Program' could result in encouraging more American business owners to opt into hiring illegal migrants over Americans, to increase their own bottom line. Outrageously, the federal government is setting itself up as a temp agency connecting illegal migrants with American business owners, and will be in the position to do this.
Question:
President Trump has already said the ‘Work Program’ will be extended as an option to business owners within the the hospitality and recreation industries. Does the Constitution grant the President of the United States the power to cherry-pick which American business industries get to keep their exploitable labor?
Answer:
It doesn’t. So in time, Trump’s ‘Work Program’ will apply to every industry in America. The leftist courts will see to it. And they won’t be wrong in their reasoning.
Question:
Why didn’t these American business owners plan ahead? For four years straight Donald Trump has been saying at his rallies that “being illegally in the country is a crime, and everyone in the USA illegally will be deported in the biggest deportation operation in modern history”.
Answer:
While I can’t answer definitively, my guess is they expected Kamala to win the election, or, they knew that if Trump won the presidency their good friend Brooke Rollins would be successful in turning his deportation plan around to serve their personal corporate interests rather than do what is fair for the greater good of the American work force. Which has worked out rather well for them, hasn’t it?
In Closing
I would like to point out that deportations of illegal migrants, even the so-called ‘noncriminals’, are working well for American workers. After a major ICE raid at Glenn Valley Foods in Omaha, Nebraska, every seat in the plant’s waiting area was filled with prospective new hires, just 48 hours after federal agents cleared out the illegal migrants, none of whom were ‘violent offenders’.
Would it be the end of the world if large corporate American businesses who exploit illegal migrants for cheap labor were cut off from their very unethical illegal labor supply? Would it be the end of the world if these American business owners were RIGHTFULLY fined for breaking labor laws for decades? If they went out of business, product demand would have the potential to be answered by smaller, honest American start-up businesses who would hire within their communities at competitive rates and adhere to USA labor laws.
Reiteration of this Petition’s Purpose
Given President Trump is now solving America’s illegal migrant problem via indentured servitude for ‘noncriminal’ illegal migrants, the American people expect complete transparency as to which American business owners are signing up to reap the benefits of President Trump’s cabinet’s ‘Work Program’.
My understanding is President Trump’s cabinet filters what they want President Trump to hear when it comes to public response to his political decisions. Maybe that is not true and President Trump hears our criticisms loud and clear, and just doesn’t care now that he no longer needs our votes. Either way, if you agree that President Trump is going back on a major campaign promise that will set American workers back stone ages, please consider adding your name to this petition. If information is being filtered to him, hopefully the media will catch wind of this petition and ask him about it. President Trump needs to be reminded that It wasn’t the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association members supporting him at his rallies and voting him into office in a landslide. It was the everyday American people who saw Donald J. Trump’s promises as a beacon of hope.
Regardless if you decide to support this petition, thank you for taking the time to read the nitty gritty of why I feel disgusted and hosed over by the Trump Administration.
God Bless You, and God Bless America!
