HOLD THE OGUN STATE GOVERNOR ACCOUNTABLE - PASS THE SENIOR CITIZENS CENTRE BILL NOW

The Issue

OUR STORY – WHY THIS MATTERS
We are citizens, taxpayers, and residents of Ogun State – the Gateway to Nigeria. But today, our state is being governed by fear, not development, and indifference, not compassion, but intimidation, and misplaced priorities.

While other states protect their elders, Ogun does nothing.

Abia State (2026): Citizens aged 60+ receive a monthly stipend, free medical care in public hospitals, and welfare support for life.

Cross River State (2025): A Senior Citizens Centre Law created facilities in each senatorial district and support centres in every LGA, promoting healthcare, dignity, and inclusion.

What does Ogun offer its elderly?

No stipend.

No free healthcare.

No senior centres.

No comprehensive welfare law.

 Critics are silenced

Instead, Critics are silenced. Pastor Kayode Olawoye, 62, was detained after posting videos of dangerous roads. Activist Adetoun Onajobi faces criminal charges for criticising the government's emergency response. This is intimidation, not leadership.

OUR LANDS, OUR KINGS, OUR MONEY - ALL MISMANAGED

Meanwhile, over 1,000+ acres of farmland in Obafemi-Owode and along Iperu-Ilishan Road were reportedly destroyed, with communities claiming no notice or compensation.

Traditional institutions face interference in the Awujale selection process. allow kingmakers to perform their traditional duties without executive pressure from the state government

NO PUBLIC ACCOUNTABILITY. The 2026 budget has risen to ₦1.68 trillion, including ₦518 billion in loans with no publicly disclosed terms.

Pension neglect is already a crisis.  Retirees are reportedly not receiving the Monthly payment they are entitled to, and they demand the postponement of the CPS  initiative.

 OUR DEMANDS

 1. Pass an Ogun State Senior Citizens Law providing monthly stipends, free healthcare, senior centres across all LGAs, and NHIS enrolment for citizens 60+.

 2. Publish full details of the ₦518 billion loan, including lenders, interest rates, and repayment plans and ensure transparent public hearings on the 2026 budget.

 3. Drop charges against peaceful critics and end political intimidation.

 4. Restore disputed lands and halt forced acquisitions without due process.

 5. Respect traditional institutions.

Abia is paying the elderly. Cross River is building centres. Ogun is doing neither.

We are not asking for favours. We are demanding dignity, transparency, and accountable governance.

Sign. Share. Act.

Our elders deserve better. Ogun State deserves better.
