Dear Supporters,
Thank you so much for your continued support in this fight for fairness, accountability, and safe housing for all. Your voices are making a difference!
Since launching this petition, we've made significant progress. Here's a brief update on what's happened:
Correspondence with Key Stakeholders:
Letters have been sent to Mr. Robert Cwieka, the director of the HUD field office in Boston, State Senator Gomez, the Springfield Planning & Economic Development Committee, the Civil Rights Committee, Representative Williams, and the Joint Committee on Racial Equity, Civil Rights, and Inclusion. These letters detail the ongoing issues at the Springfield Housing Authority (SHA) and call for immediate action.
Audit Findings:
We've highlighted the recent ‘troubled’ audit rating received by the Springfield Housing Authority (SHA). This audit reflects systemic issues that continue to impact tenants, including neglected maintenance, lack of accommodations for people with disabilities, and unsafe living conditions. We believe this audit serves as clear evidence that these issues need to be addressed urgently.
Upcoming Public Hearing:
A public hearing on the Consolidated Plan for Housing and Community Development is approaching. At this hearing, I plan to voice our collective concerns and demand the changes that are needed to ensure safe, fair, and equitable housing for all.
Thank you for standing with us and continuing to amplify these important issues. Your support is vital as we work to ensure that the Springfield Housing Authority is held accountable for the safety and well-being of all its tenants.
Stay tuned for more updates, and please feel free to share this with others who may be interested in joining our efforts.
Together, we can make a difference!
Warm regards,
Br. Richard
