My family has been facing an unjust situation that stemmed from the notorious bullying issues that frequently occured in the Palmyra-Eagle School District,  and  Recently, the parents of a child who had been bullying my daughter filed a lawsuit against me for $5,000. They claimed 'lost wages,' but this claim was solely based on their word. Shockingly, the court accepted their statements under oath and granted them the judgment, despite there being no tangible proof.

In an effort to defend myself and my family, I obtained the mother’s paycheck stubs and time clock records, which clearly showed her statements to be false. However, the court refused to consider this irrefutable evidence. Now, this woman is attempting to seize my property to fulfill a judgment that was awarded based on deceiving the court.

This situation isn’t unique. Every day, individuals misuse the judicial system by committing perjury and deceiving the courts to win financial judgments they do not deserve. They see it as an easy way to make money at the expense of justice and truth. It's essentially stealing by any other name, and it significantly impacts those of us who are law-abiding citizens.

The consequences of perjury should be severe and deterring. When individuals lie under oath and are believed, it undermines the integrity of our judicial system. It is crucial the courts reassess procedures and implement strict verification processes for claims, ensuring that false statements are met with serious penalties. Only by holding perjurers accountable can we ensure that our court system remains a fair venue for all.

Establish policies that demand thorough validation of claims and enforce stringent penalties for offenses of perjury.
