My daughter's father is one such individual. I have the evidence—the disturbing proof that he, like others, has been consuming illegal content showing children being abused. Yet, despite presenting this evidence to the police, no charges have been pressed, and he walks free, potentially endangering more innocent children.

This situation is not unique. In Stockport and beyond, individuals who are caught engaging in or viewing heinous acts online often evade proper justice. This lack of accountability not only fails the victims but also emboldens the perpetrators, allowing them to continue their criminal activities without fear of consequences.

It's time for change. Law enforcement agencies must treat online crimes involving child exploitation with the seriousness they deserve. The presence of clear evidence should lead to swift action, immediate arrest, and thorough prosecution. Only then can we ensure the safety and protection of our children.

Statistics reveal that a significant number of online child exploitation cases end without charges, causing immense distress to families and jeopardizing community trust in our justice system. According to the Internet Watch Foundation, there has been a consistent rise in the detection of child sexual abuse material online, yet prosecutions remain disproportionately low.

We call upon the Stockport Police to prioritize these cases and enforce stricter measures against those who harm children. Implementing specialized training for officers, increasing resources dedicated to cybercrimes, and establishing community task forces could drastically improve outcomes and serve as effective deterrents.

Our children deserve better safeguards, and our community deserves a proactive police force that will not rest until every guilty individual is brought to justice.
