Hold LAPD accountable for failing to protect abused dog

The Issue

On November 16th, in Compton, CA, a heart-wrenching incident was witnessed and recorded. Two homeless individuals were seen dragging a helpless dog into their tent, where they proceeded to beat the poor animal. Through the video, you can hear the distressing yelps of the dog and see the tent rustling violently as the woman blocks the tent entrance, preventing any help from getting to the abused animal.

Witnesses immediately contacted the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), expecting them to intervene and rescue the abused dog from the dangerous situation. However, despite the evidence and clear distress of the animal, the officers involved chose not to remove the dog from the custody of its abusers, leaving it in harm's way.

This is a blatant failure of duty and a violation of basic animal welfare standards. Animals rely on human protection, especially from those in positions of authority. By allowing this dog to remain with its abusers, the LAPD has failed not only the dog but all citizens who trust them to uphold justice and protect the vulnerable.

We need immediate action to ensure such negligence does not happen again. This means conducting a thorough investigation into this incident and holding the responsible officers accountable. The LAPD must implement stricter protocols for dealing with animal abuse cases, ensuring officers are trained to recognize the urgency and seriousness of these situations.

Animal abuse is a crime, and law enforcement should treat it as such. We are calling on the LAPD, the mayor of Los Angeles, and relevant authorities to address this failure and commit to better protecting our community's animals. This includes providing proper resources and training for officers dealing with animal cruelty cases.

By signing this petition, you are urging the LAPD to take decisive action against those who neglected their duty and left an innocent animal in the hands of abusers. We demand justice for the abused dog and better safeguarding measures for all animals in Los Angeles.

Please join us in holding those in authority accountable for their actions, ensuring no other animal suffers similar neglect and abuse. Sign this petition today and help make Los Angeles safer for all its inhabitants, human and animal alike.
