LA city housing is tasked with facilitating accessible affordable housing for individuals with financial needs. Upon moving into 15230 Parthenia Street, the tenants were prompted to sign a power of attorney and a document claiming they are mentally unstable. A power of attorney is a written authorization to manage one's life such as properties, medical, and financial affairs. In district 6 LAHD has abused their power by forcing many residents to hand over personal information such as social security numbers and birthdays of their young children as a condition to remain in their affordable apartments. Having claimed the information has been “lost” numerous times, management continues to ask for it. They’ve taken advantage of the need of the homeless to rob them and even applied for federal funds in their name without consent. These so-called “affordable apartments” do not even have proper living conditions, they are infested with cockroaches, unserviceable elevators, and were improperly built, not aptebile for people to live in safely. This is an atrocity that is taking place with the most vulnerable of our society, the situation must be remedied now!
Most of these unjust acts are being committed using taxpayer funds. Advocating for better housing is essential because it directly affects the quality of life for individuals and communities. Adequate housing is a basic human need that provides shelter, safety, and security, and it can impact physical and mental health, educational outcomes, and economic opportunities. When people have stable and safe homes, they are more likely to thrive, and communities benefit from increased stability and social cohesion. By advocating for better housing policies and practices, we can work towards creating more equitable and sustainable communities.
We urge LA city housing to do right by the residents they are tasked with helping and stop committing such horrendous acts with the hard earned tax payer dollars. Please sign this petition now to bring a voice to the silenced and help protect the individuals LAHD has exploited for their own benefit.
