Wealthy people get away with labor trafficking while disguising it as recovery.

Our case was turned down by a prominent Vancouver law firm on a contingency-fee basis alone, after they conducted a year's worth of research.
All I can think about is how many people lived in abject terror and chronic depression while being held hostage at JVA, and how men with major ego problems sexually preyed on women who were there seeking recovery and were rewarded for it.
Once again, a Mormon-backed millionaire gets away with everything.
I just received an email from Murphy Battista confirming that this case is not viable on a contingency basis.
If you would like to see their email and explanation, please contact me at fakehelprealharm@gmail.com. I do not feel comfortable sharing publicly.
And this is exactly what happens when people refuse to speak up or share what really happened behind closed doors.
It's become pretty clear that no one is actually interested in speaking out about the abuses at JVA. If people genuinely wanted to expose what happened, they would have spoken up by now.
By no means am I trying to shift the blame. This is 100% not your fault. Again, if no one files reports or takes any action, this is going nowhere. I’ve done my part.
Don't give up! We may never receive official acknowledgment beyond a one-time shutdown and a few articles written by brave journalists, but at least one day, people may understand just how deeply damaged people were by their experiences in this facility.
That is, if witnesses and survivors actually find ways to speak out and share what happened. Otherwise, it will all get swept under the rug and eventually disappear...which is exactly what they're counting on.
In case you haven't learned from history, remaining silent and meek in the face of power imbalances accomplishes absolutely nothing when it comes to demanding accountability. But then again, not everyone is actually interested in accountability.
