Hold GP Practices Accountable for Misconduct and Negligence- We deserve better!
The Issue
When I first started this petition, it was to raise concerns about serious issues at Morlais Health. I spoke up because I believed our community deserves better—and I still do.
But what’s become clear through the hundreds of messages I’ve received is that this problem goes far beyond one GP practice. Across the country, people are struggling to access safe, respectful, and responsive healthcare. And far too often, when patients speak out, they're met with silence—or worse.
I know this firsthand. After starting this petition, I was removed from Morlais Health's patient list. No warning. No conversation. Just gone.
If asking for better care results in being removed as a patient, what does that say about the system?
That’s why I’m updating this petition. This is no longer just about Morlais Health—this is about accountability across all GP practices. We are calling on NHS leaders, health boards, and government officials to take urgent action to:
- Launch independent investigations into GP practices with repeated complaints
- Enforce consequences for negligence, misconduct, and systemic failures
- Protect patients and whistleblowers who raise concerns
- Ensure public transparency around GP performance and patient access
And the statistics speak volumes:
- In 2013–14, NHS Wales received over 8,000 formal complaints—with more than 1,000 about access issues, 1,400 about treatment quality, and over 500 about staff attitude.
- Between 2007 and 2010, clinical negligence costs in Wales doubled, with payouts reaching £89 million by 2010.
- As early as 2000, 700+ new claims were filed in a single year, with the total liability provision rising to nearly £94 million.
- 12,500 deaths a year in the UK are believed to be needless and avoidable, caused by systemic healthcare failures.
These aren’t just numbers. They represent real people—like me, like you—who were let down when they needed care the most.
We’re not asking for perfection. We’re asking for basic standards: access, respect, and accountability.
Please sign and share if you believe we all deserve a healthcare system that listens—and acts.
