Hold global companies accountable for their cage-free promise in New Zealand!
The issue
Global company, Kellogg’s, is being called out for failing to be honest with the public about their cage-free progress.
Kellogg's pledged to ban the use of cruel cages in their global supply chain. The world applauded their commitment and they profited from their cage-free promise but now refuse to share what cage-free progress they have made - if any.
Around the world, the cage-free movement is gaining momentum. For countless egg-laying hens facing a lifetime in extreme confinement, this is good news. After all, every cage-free commitment represents a significant shift for the better—as long as the companies pledging to stop putting hens in cages actually follow through.
These cages are so small and packed with birds that the hens can’t move or spread their wings. Often, their body parts are caught in the caging, resulting in fractured or broken bones, deformities, and severe feather loss. Some hens, exhausted or unable to move, are trampled to death by their cage mates. Those that don’t die from the abuse can spend their miserable lives trapped with dead birds at their feet.
Hundreds of companies around the world are ditching cages and have the reports to prove it. Many of the leading manufacturers, including Accor, Aramark, Radisson, Kempinski, Starhotels, and Mandarin, are consistently reporting meaningful progress on their global cage-free commitments. Yet Kellogg’s continuously fails to report.
It is unacceptable that Kellogg’s committed to going cage-free and now refuses to be transparent about their progress all while deceiving customers and profiting off of empty promises and horrific animal abuse! Please sign and share this petition urging Kellogg's to show that they are carrying out their commitment by reporting their cage-free progress!
