Our petition is famous! (Kidding)
But I did want to share the outlets that have written about our petition. Very grateful:

Next steps:

3. Monday: Register to speak at the Dec 5th board meeting. If any of us are selected, we can work together to ensure our two-minute talks form a narrative or story. Each talk will build off of the one before, with each of us addressing a unique aspect to avoid repetition. I would love to help!
Thursday: Our hope the school board will agree to an independent external investigation into the events that began in early 2024 and still continue to this day. Ideally, the investigation will confirm that everything was conducted appropriately, which would be a great outcome. However, if any wrongdoing is uncovered, we would then urge the school board to hold those responsible accountable. Additionally, we would ask the district to develop a plan to address and repair the harm caused, even if it is something as simple as offering sincere apologies. Acknowledging and naming the harm can go a long way toward healing for those who have been affected.
If I were to rewrite this petition, I would highlight the fact that this is no longer about football. The football scandal revealed something more concerning. The football scandal was symptomatic of what appears to be corruption. But an investigation will provide the transparency we need to ensure our children are being shaped by a school system whose leaders embody integrity, honesty, and accountability.
Please consider speaking. Many of those closest to this issue fear retaliation so those of us who don't have as much to lose will need to be their voice on Thursday. You can reach me at LLGeraghty@gmail.com
Please let me know if you have any questions, comments, or concerns! Thank you soooo much for your support.
Peace,
