I was placed on administrative segregation on aka the hole on 9/15/21, I was placed “under investigation” for reasons beyond my control. I would later find out that the investigation was frivolous and assuming and had absolutely nothing to do with me. I was placed in a cell with a guy that the administration at the time had deemed as “cell alone” and that there was an immediate security risk involved. Furthermore his tasc (temporarily administration segregation confinement) form stated that “there is urgent need to separate the offender from others for his own safety and that of others”. Unfortunately I would become “others”. On 9/27/21 I was attacked while I slept. I was violently yanked from the top bunk and assaulted. Of course I defended myself. However the incident was proven to be injurious. I suffered injuries to my neck, right hip, and right shoulder. In order to attempt to receive medical assistance in prison a prisoner must fill out an hsr (heath service request) and submit it to a nurse when you’re in the hole/hold. In general population there’s a box facing outside the medical quarters, one has to place the hsr in. Of all the injuries the shoulder injury is by far the most persistent and painful. I have submitted hsr after hsr. No adequate health service has been rendered. I was seen by a nurse 1/2022 for a hsr i submitted 9/2021. Smh. The last few months have proved to be the most painful for my shoulder. The following is a list of dates I submitted hsrs; 4/21/22, 4/27/22, 4/29/22, 5/8/22, 5/9/22, 5/10/22, 5/12/22, 5/14/22, 5/15/22, 5/16/22, 5/20/22, 5/24/22, and 6/6/22…..I was finally seen by a nurse practitioner “Dr.” Rose on 6/10/22. She prescribed pained meds but it did not help with the pain. Instead it gave me a weird wobbly after effect. The pain has been unremitting. I’m often awakened at night from the pain. I continue to submit hsr after hsr with the hope that I will be sent to a real hospital with competent doctors/nurses. I believe a MRI would reveal what the problem is in my right deltoid. Such things are not offered here in this prison. I submitted more hsrs on 6/26/22, 7/13/22, 7/14/22, 7/17/22, 7/20/22, 7/21/22, 7/26/22, 8/2/22, 8/4/22, 8/9/22, 8/17/22, 8/25/22, 8/29/22, 9/7/22, 9/8/22, 9/13/22, 9/16/22, and 9/20/22. Per DOC policy you are to be seen within 72 hours of submitting a hsr. To date I have not been seen by a RN or Nurse practitioner. The pain is incessant and severe. The COs and nurses don’t care about our health, be it physical or mental. The only time they do their jobs correctly is when they are inundated with calls inquiring about a prisoners health… and even then they begrudgingly do their job. I believe an MRI will show what’s wrong with my shoulder and a real doctor will recommend the best course of action to correct the injury if it hasn’t been too long to prevent injury.
