Hold Castleberry ISD Accountable: Silence on Violent Threats is Unacceptable

The Issue

To the Castleberry ISD Administration and School Board:

On January 6, a violent threat was directed at Castleberry High School along with 19 other schools in the Fort Worth area. While we appreciate the district's assurances that students will be protected, the current environment at the high school makes a standard "business as usual" approach feel unsafe for our children and staff.

Why We Are Asking for a Temporary Closure
We believe school should be canceled  for the remainder of this week (Wednesday through Friday) for the following reasons:

Compromised Campus Security: Due to ongoing construction, students are required to go outside for lunch and transition between areas because indoor paths are blocked. This creates an open, vulnerable environment that is significantly harder to secure during an active threat.

Widespread Panic: With 20 schools targeted in a single day, the emotional toll on students and teachers is immense. Learning cannot happen effectively when students are in fear for their physical safety.

Time for Investigation: A temporary closure until next Monday would allow local law enforcement the necessary time to fully investigate the source of these threats and ensure the campus is 100% secure before children return.

Our Request

We urge Castleberry ISD to do the right thing for parents, students, and the community. Please put safety before the school calendar and close the high school until Monday, January 12.

Our children’s lives are not worth the risk. Please prioritize their safety over attendance.
