Every student at Brookline High School deserves a safe environment and a quality education, yet these fundamental necessities are alarmingly absent. Concerned parents and community members have observed a disturbing increase in incidents that threaten the safety and well-being of students. Vaping and other unsafe activities frequently occur in the school bathrooms, creating an unsafe environment where students are at risk.

Additionally, antisemitic, Islamophobic, and racist behavior has been reported, raising serious concerns about the inclusivity and cultural sensitivity of the school's environment. All racism goes against the core values of respect and equality that education institutions should promote. It is imperative that Brookline High School addresses these issues with urgency and implements policies to ensure that all students feel safe and respected regardless of their background.

No racism of any kind should be happening at BHS. Respect for all people should be expected when students walk through the doors of Brookline High. 

The lack of adequate response to these pressing matters has led to an exodus of students, with some parents opting to transfer their children to private or charter schools where they can be assured of a better education and safer environment. This should not be the path parents feel forced to take.

To ensure a brighter and safer future for all students at Brookline High School, we advocate for the administration to take immediate and concrete actions. This includes increased monitoring of school premises, implementing educational programs about the dangers of vaping, and creating a zero-tolerance policy towards antisemitism and any form of discrimination. Moreover, we urge for regular communication with parents and the community about the measures being taken to address these issues.

This petition will be shared with the incoming interim superintendent and the administration of Brookline High School. 

Holding Brookline High School’s leadership accountable is vital. We call on the administration to prioritize students' needs in creating a positive, supportive, and secure learning environment.
