The Boost Bingo campaign calls on the Treasury to bring tax on bingo in line with other popular leisure pursuits.

Bingo is at the heart of hundreds of British communities. In a recent survey, 61% of British adults said bingo provided an important local service and brought communities together.

Most other gambling pursuits are taxed at 15%, but the bingo industry has been subjected to bingo duty at 20%. At the same time, bingo clubs are unable to reclaim VAT on investment and refurbishment. Combined, the tax burden on bingo is significantly more than that on retailers and other businesses on the high street.

If bingo duty is lowered from 20% to 15%, the industry as a whole is committed to substantial investment in new premises, modernisation and jobs.
