Park Primary School 20mph Speed Limit

Park Primary School 20mph Speed Limit
The Issue
As parents and members of the local community, we are delighted that our fantastic Histon & Impington Park Primary School has been built for the communities of Histon and Impington.
However, we are deeply concerned that the current speed limit of 30 mph on the B1049 (Glebe Way) is too high, and not appropriate next to a school. There are upwards of 400 parents crossing the road four times daily, often walking with very young children, and we fear it is only a matter of time before an accident occurs.
In line with other schools in the Local Authority, we request that a 20 mph zone be implemented around the school, specifically between drop off and collection times.
This will make the area much safer for parents and children arriving and leaving school by foot or bicycle. It will reduce the risk to pedestrians waiting at the Toucan crossings by reducing the speed of passing cars and thus reducing potential impact energy. It will also reduce noise and particulate pollution for those on foot, as well as for the school children adjacent to the road. It will also likely reduce congestion on the B1049 as it passes Brook Primary where currently long stationary traffic queues are negatively impacting the air quality.
Notes:
Research showing that a 20mph limit reduces traffic pollution - so an important consideration where children play: https://skyrad.co.uk/transport-innovation-research/
