As a former camper, I witnessed firsthand the impact these camps have on our lives, and the essential role that staff play in this experience. However, recent days have seen unfortunate changes, with campers like myself experiencing bans due to staffing and resource challenges. The scarcity of staff led to the unexpected ban of one-day camps and other events, affecting the fulfillment we find at ESP Camp. The incredible memories, personal growth, and friendships formed seem at risk of being overshadowed by the logistical issues that stem from a lack of adequately trained staff.

The recent camps, especially the overnight ones scheduled from July 23 to August 2 and again from September 2 to 24, have faced significant staffing shortages. These shortages not only disrupt the daily operation of the camps but also limit the number of campers who can experience the joyous activities ESP is known for. For many campers, ESP Camp is a vital part of their growth and sense of belonging. However, without sufficient staffing, the camp cannot operate at its full potential, leading to restrictive measures that exclude campers unnecessarily.
