Women suffer the most during Assam floods every year. Recently, 19 girls and women from flood affected villages in Assam were rescued from being trafficked. It chills my bone to read such news. 

We need to ensure women’s safety during disasters. I believe women-friendly flood shelters can play an important role in ensuring safety, security and dignity of women caught in floods.

I have written to Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma as he holds two important portfolios in the Assam government -- Health and Finance. Dr Sarma has been known to have introduced women-friendly schemes in the past and I am counting on him to ACT for the women caught in floods every year. Click to tweet.
