Dear Supporters,

I write to you today with a heavy heart as I see images of devastation in my beloved state.  I see people displaced, crops destroyed, dead animals and I see women struggling as they are left without a shelter over their head.  Few years back, one of my friends had narrated how floods are a hunting ground for sex-traffickers who take advantage of women in vulnerable situations. I dread to imagine the condition of young girls and women in these uncertain conditions. 

Today, I wrote to one of our decision makers -Mr Bhabesh Kalita, Minister of State, Revenue & Disaster Management Department - who had responded four months back. I'm waiting to hear from him and his department for updates. I hope they respond positively and hopefully next flood season we will see a different picture with women-friendly flood shelters.  

Till we get any response here are a few things we can do from our end:

• Donate to Chief Minister's Relief Fund https://cm.assam.gov.in/relieffund.php or donate to organisations like this one
• Share this petition and like our 
  Facebook campaign to build awareness in your community about the need for women-friendly flood shelters in Assam. 
• Organise a donation drive in your community for organisations doing collection drives. Check a list of drives here.
