Balcombe Heights Skatepark is the only one in the Hills Shire LGA. Upgraded in 2017, It features an enclosed bowl and small street skating area with the usual uninspiring quarters, banks, ledge and rail. The already limited budget was meant to cover upgrading the park significantly, but the council decided to ‘share’ the money to upgrade other playgrounds around The Hills instead. The poorly funded upgrade resulted in a dysfunctional design that attempted to put too many oversized elements in a confined space and also doesn't cater for beginners. The bad layout design causes many high speed collisions in the centre of the park, and also makes it difficult to have multiple riders using the park at the same time. The skatepark is average, but being the only skatepark in The Hills LGA it is well used and well loved… just don’t go there when it’s busy!
If you have 5mins watch this guys hilarious review of the skatepark when it was newly opened and read the comments for more info on how the upgrade wasn't designed very well...
