Evergreen Community Meeting #2 and Board Work Session next Wed, Apr. 27 from 5:00-7:30pm!
Apr 22, 2016 — Hello Evergreen community!
My name is Teddi and I am a 1998 Evergreen High School graduate, White Center resident, and the parent of two children who may one day also attend Evergreen.
I am writing to urge you to attend a community meeting next Wednesday, April 27 involving the future of our school. I am sure many of you who attended or remember Evergreen before it was split up can recall the sense of community. There were also plenty of opportunities to try new things and meet new people. We were free to explore and grow in many directions.
As a parent I am not certain that the Evergreen Campus of today will afford my children the same opportunities. I am fearful that our spirit of inclusion and unity has been broken. I worry that students are not being offered the same amount of extra-curricular and enrichment opportunities as kids who attend other high schools in our district.
The good news is that my children have yet to start kindergarten. There is time to turn things around. My husband is currently serving on the school district’s Evergreen Core Planning Team, which has been working hard to develop recommendations for the Superintendent and the School Board on the path forward. They are inviting us all to weigh in, and make sure their ideas are on track with what we want.
Please come make your voice heard. Here are the details:
Wednesday, April 27, 2016
5:00-6:00pm - School Board Work Session on Small Schools
6:00-7:30pm - Evergreen Community Forum #2
Both events will take place in the Cafeteria on the Evergreen Campus (830 SW 116th St, Seattle, WA 98146)
