Help us by asking MP Brooke van Velde for support

Take action! Write to our MP and demand Public Notification for Meadowbank Development!
Dear Supporter,
Thank you for standing with us in the fight for a public notification process for the proposed apartment block in Meadowbank. Your support has been instrumental in pushing our petition towards 1200 signatures and raising awareness about this critical issue.
Now, we need your voice at the next level!
Hon. Brooke van Velden, our Member of Parliament for Tāmaki, has the power to advocate for our community's concerns. We urge you to take a moment and write to her, expressing your support for a public notification process.
A public hearing would ensure that all residents have a chance to voice their concerns and have a say in shaping the future of our neighbourhood.
Here's what you can do:
Send her an email. <Brooke.Vanvelden@parliament.govt.nz>
I have written an example below, or you can write your version.
- In your message, clearly state your opposition to the current development plan without public notification.
- Briefly mention the potential impact on the community (e.g., increased traffic, lack of parking, etc.)
- Express your strong support for a public notification process.
Every message counts! By taking this crucial step, you can directly influence Hon. van Velden to stand with our community and ensure our voices are heard.
Thank you for your continued support!
Together, we can make a difference! ✊
Sincerely,
Simon and the Save Meadowbank Coalition

Dear Hon Brooke van Velden,
Thank you for being one of our representatives in Parliament as the Member for Tāmaki.
I am writing to you as a concerned Kiwi citizen who needs your help.
I am asking for you to act on my behalf with Auckland City Council.
You need to be visible in driving the change in legislation that allows Auckland to opt out and return to the Unitary Plan.
This is to ensure the legislative changes to the National Policy Statement on Urban Development (NPSUD), and the new Medium-Density Residential Standards (MDRS) are instigated as soon as possible in Parliament.
This enables Auckland to be able to revert to the well-planned and publicly supported Unitary Plan (pre-NPSUD and MDRS) that allows for well-planned density in the right way in the right areas and halts the devastating impact of the rushed and ill-thought-out COVID era density legislation that did not allow Auckland’s Unitary Plan to be able to continue.
To say that the Unitary Plan before NPSUD and MDRS was working well with significant density development happening in line with infrastructure and planning, and this needs to be able to be reverted to.
Secondly, with legislation from the new government pending, and Plan Change 78 not even finishing its hearings yet, approving any building in Auckland, (let alone Meadowbank as per https://www.change.org/p/high-rise-anxiety-stop-the-project-before-our-neighbourhood-suffocates/ without public consultation is a dire outcome.
Can I count on you to:
Publicly support me and the 1000+ other citizens on your social media channels about this.
Help speed up these legislative changes to return immediately to the Unitary Plan.
Promoting this petition https://www.change.org/p/high-rise-anxiety-stop-the-project-before-our-neighbourhood-suffocates/ asking for PUBLIC NOTIFICATION, and help start a debate about this hot topic?
Thank you for your support.
Yours sincerely,
