NOW is the time to write to the Mayor and your Councillor and ask why the city would spend 15 MILLION Dollars to close ACCESS to High Park. The weekend closure of vehicles that has been in effect for over four years has already decimated attendance at the park, events no longer take place as groups find more accessible places to hold their activities. When the seven days a week ban on vehicles is implemented, High Park will become a playground for only the favoured few who are able !!!!  With no public transport into the park 365 days a year, and the promised shuttle a long way off, many wishing to visit High Park will have no access to the 399 acres.  The City could save the millions they plan to spend on closure to re-vitalize and maintain the underfunded park to upgrade High Park facilities, winterize washrooms, improve sidewalks, re-install speed bumps, replace /repair fences and upgrade all maintenance of the property. The city should spend our money wisely and well, NOT close ACCESS to a beloved Park…
