SAVE THE BEES - Ban the use of Glyphosate by Hertfordshire County Council

SAVE THE BEES - Ban the use of Glyphosate by Hertfordshire County Council
The Issue
Request Hertfordshire County Council to stop using Glyphosate on pavements, green spaces, playgrounds and anywhere else where Hertfordshire County Council currently uses Glyphosate and other pesticides, and to instead employ environmentally friendly methods of weed control.
The World Health Organisation has stated that it is highly probable that Glyphosate is carcinogenic and there have recently been many court cases brought against Monsanto and Bayer by cancer sufferers.
Glyphosate is also an endocrinal disruptor affecting our hormones, and also can detrimentally affect intestinal flora.
It is chemically stable and soluble in water and damaging to aquatic life and soil organisms, including earthworms.
Many other countries have banned or severely restricted Glyphosate, for example Sri Lanka, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, Belgium, to name a few. In the UK, many local authorities have also banned or severely restricted Glyphosate, including Shaftesbury, Hammersmith and Fulham, Glastonbury, Aberdeen and Edinburgh. We believe it is time that Hertfordshire followed the lead at county level to stop using Glyphosate and protect our environment and public health for the future.
We therefore call upon Hertfordshire County Council to immediately ban their use.
