Uganda is a vibrant and rapidly growing country with a rich culture and a youthful population. Despite its progress, we still lack access to many globally recognized brands like McDonald’s. By opening a McDonald’s branch in Uganda, we could:

 1. Create Jobs: A McDonald’s branch would generate employment opportunities for Ugandans in areas like food preparation, customer service, and management.

 2. Support Local Farmers: McDonald’s has a history of working with local suppliers, which could boost Uganda’s agricultural sector by sourcing ingredients like potatoes, chicken, and vegetables locally.

 3. Boost Tourism: McDonald’s is a globally recognized brand. Having a branch in Uganda would enhance the experience for international tourists who look for familiar dining options.

 4. Encourage Investment: A McDonald’s branch could inspire other international businesses to invest in Uganda, fostering further economic growth.

 

 

 

However, we face a significant barrier to this goal. Current Ugandan export policies make it difficult for international franchises like McDonald’s to enter our market. Even though McDonald’s franchises can cost as little as $100,000, many Ugandan entrepreneurs have been unable to bring the brand here due to restrictive laws and policies.

 

We are calling on Uganda’s lawmakers to reform these policies, creating a business-friendly environment that encourages global franchises like McDonald’s to invest in Uganda. By removing these barriers, we can unlock new opportunities for Ugandan businesses and communities.
