Hello everyone, a Public Hearing on the permit submitted by the City of Racine for Shoreline work will be held on Thursday, November 5th at 6:00 at City Hall in Racine in Room 205.

Any person may submit written comments by emailing sonya.ponzi@wisconsin.gov, by leaving a voice message at phone (608) 598-0346, or writing to Sonya Ponzi, 1027 W St. Paul Ave, Milwaukee, WI,53233 by mail.   Comments should include the docket number (IP-SE-2026-52-02708) or applicant name (John Rooney). Comments must be submitted or postmarked no later than 10 days after the hearing date to be considered.

Here is a example of what someone wrote:

Dear Ms Ponzi,

I am a Wind Point resident and am very much apposed to the mass removal of habitat along the lakeshore and further inland for the dunes-style golf course proposed.

The promontory that is Wind Point is a necessary layover spot for migrating birds. The morning hours during migration see many flocks of tired migrants dashing for the shoreline cover amid awaiting raptors.

I do not believe the entire 3000’ of shoreline needs revetment.  There are only a couple of places subject to erosion.

Further, I am opposed to the removal of the current location for the clubhouse and parking lot.  The parking lot is accessible to the sledding hills in the winter, and is used continuously by the non-golfing public for many reasons. i.e. The parking lot sits on a bluff overlooking the lake which is suitable for quiet contemplation.  There is no other overlook like it in the area.

Please rethink authorizing the permit for the decimation of innumerable trees, shrubs, and prairies.

Thank you for your assistance.
