Help Us Save Our Community’s Hospital, Clinics, and Nursing Home!!!

The Issue

Now is the time to act! Please, help us SAVE Ed Fraser Memorial Hospital, Frank Wells Nursing Home, Dopson Family Medical Center, and Baker Rural Health Clinic. Access to healthcare is a problem for many Baker County residents—especially our elderly and our young, who are the most vulnerable. Access to jobs/careers within this county are few and far between. The Hospital Authority (2 people) will vote to issue a Request For Proposals for the lease on the property that Ed Fraser Memorial Hospital, Frank Wells Nursing Home, Dopson Family Medical Center, and Baker Rural Health Clinic currently utilize to provide services to our community. Two people will vote and have the final say for our entire community.

What does this mean for us and our community? Large corporations like HCA, Baptist Health, Ascension, and UF Health can bid to take over the facilities. We risk losing our primary care physician services, specialty care physician services, urgent care clinic, nursing home, acute care admissions, and outpatient services like labs, imaging, and respiratory services. Corporations like these only care about the profit margin, and just like the hospitals in Starke and Live Oak, our county will be left with a stand-alone ER routing all patients to the larger hospitals out of town to receive care. This action could also leave over 350 people jobless.

*Please understand that any money given to “promote” this petition is not going to the hospital, it is given directly to the website (change.org) to promote and share the petition. Baker County Medical Services is not requesting donations. I am not requesting donations for BCMS. I apologize for any confusion.

As concerned citizens, please sign our petition and attend the meeting at the Chamber of Commerce on July 19th at 5 pm. The address is 20 East Macclenny Ave Macclenny, FL 32063. Join us and help us make a change to make a difference in so many lives.
