BAD NEWS, BUT THE FIGHT CONTINUES: Protest TOMORROW (Thurs. 6/5) @ 7:30 AM!

We're writing with some unfortunate, though perhaps not entirely unexpected, news. Today, we received official word via email from LAUSD that Principal Garmon will "end her tenure" at Broadway Elementary at the conclusion of this school year.

This news was delivered shortly before an emergency virtual town hall hosted by LAUSD. To say it was frustrating would be an understatement. For the majority of the meeting, district representatives, including Agnes Kamau (pictured above refusing to comment for the umpteenth time), repeatedly stated they "don't comment on HR matters." This was followed by a deluge of bureaucratic word soup that did little to address the concerns of our community or explain this sudden and unwelcome decision.

But let us be crystal clear: This is NOT the end. We will NOT stand down.

Our children, our teachers, and our school deserve better than to have a beloved and effective principal removed without transparency or genuine community input.

Therefore, we are proceeding with our planned protest TOMORROW, Thursday, June 5th, at 7:30 AM in front of Broadway Elementary School. We need to show LAUSD the strength and unity of our community. If you can join us, please WEAR RED to show your solidarity!

This fight doesn't end tomorrow. We plan to keep up the pressure through these last few crucial days of the school year and beyond. We are exploring all avenues and will not let this decision go unchallenged.
