I'll be sharing some of the reasons I believe the Children's Amendment Bill should be retracted - from my perspective as a children's rights' lawyer, the founder of Bayakhanya NPC which empowers parentless children to star and as the founder of Wandisa Child Protection Organisation. I start today with a brief summary of why the proposals are problematic and must be withdrawn, and then in the attached article, highlight the tremendous cost to society and the devastation to children if #CAB2019 is pushed through instead of being withdrawn.

Problems with proposed #CAB2019
* fatally flawed, substantively and procedurally
* erodes children’s Constitutional and human rights
* discriminates against differently-abled children & those who are not  South African
* breaches South Africa’s international treaty obligations
* does not resolve the foster care crisis as Social Development suggests, but instead further undermines the child protection system
* advocates administrative measures to determine lifelong placement of children and undermines the High Court’s role as upper guardian of all minor children
* removes the rights of professionals serving children to practice as professionals.
