Chenango Forks Central School District 

"Chenango Forks Board of Education members are our students' biggest fans! They cheer on our students throughout the school year, while working year-round to support a healthy school culture in which our students can thrive.

During our October 9 Board of Education meeting, students expressed their gratitude to the board for all that they do to ensure that Chenango Forks is "A Community Where All Learners Grow and Excel." 

Here is our response:

"None of the above happened. Instead they stripped a valued teacher unrighteously of his title and the students in attendance were there in protest. To say the board supports us in a time like this is insulting. This week alone has proven that they underestimate the intelligence of their students and the integrity of the staff that aid in our education.

A school board that is there to "cheer on our students" would not act in the way our administration has. This shows itself in ways that manifest themselves in forms bigger than Edwards alone, this is an issue within educational institutions themselves.

All JUSTICE4EDWARDS posters were taken down this Week: when we asked an official about this it was stated that this was " to create a safe environment for those not supportive of the movement.' This week in general we've heard talk that "this is for the students" "we advocate for the students" "we care about our students". It's safe to say that at this point in time. and in these scenarios, they don't: If they really wanted a safe environment for students they would've been this proactive about slurs. swastikas, or other belittling content present in the bathrooms; instead they'll be present for months at a time.

Our posters were taken down with a swiftness that left us rattled. A "healthy school culture' cannot exist in an environment where its students feel devalued, silenced, and ignored.

We sincerely hope that the admin do better."
