Help us create the very first bike lane in Downtown Covington . We have a wonderful trail system here called the Saint Tammany trace but, outside of the Trace there is only one bike lane here in our parish. There is a small section of the Trace that runs through downtown Covington down thru Gibson Street and can be very hard to discern. Many people think it ends and don’t continue into downtown.I’m proposing that we make this the first bike lane in our little old town.

 The city streets here in our fair city of Covington are said to be repaived in 2023. Now is the time to fight for a bike line down Gibson Street. Hundreds of bikes a day can roll down Gibson Street with little to no visibility. A legit bike lane would only add to the aesthetic of downtown and would bring a lot more cycling traffic to downtown area and businesses. The cost would be a little bit of paint and a few parking spots that we would lose in downtown Covington.(less than 5)
