Australia has recently gifted an extra 34 armoured vehicles to Ukraine, including M113 APCs and Bushmaster armoured vehicles. This is in addition to the vehicles they have already sent plus 155mm artillery. They have also sent much humanitarian aid.

As far as I am aware the only equipment that New Zealand has sent directly to Ukraine (excluding any funds which isn’t direct) is some helmets and body armour.

This equipment was sent because the Ukrainian government directly asked for it. I am pretty much convinced that the only way to get our government to gift any armoured vehicles is for the Ukrainian government to ask for it. But in order for this to happen the Ukrainian government needs to be aware that this surplus exists.

Many Ukrainian New Zealanders have signed this petition, which is great. If you have friends in Ukraine I recommend that you share it with them also. The more visibility the petition has the more likely it is to be successful.
