In just 10 days we have gone from nothing to 200 supporters. The next goal is 500 supporters.

There have been some interesting developments since I began this petition. Firstly, the NZ government has had a policy change and is now supplying lethal aid in the form of 7.5 million dollars to the UK to supply weapons and ammunition to Ukraine. This is a shift from the previous focus on just humanitarian aid. We are also contributing with intelligence and logistics. This is good but I think we can do a lot more.

The other change has been in US aid to Ukraine. It was supplying mostly smaller weapons, but is now supplying 200 M113 APCs, 155 mm artillery, Switchblade drones, etc. This is also a policy shift towards heavy weapons from the US administration.

There has been quite a lot of discussion of Javelin anti tank missiles from NZ, but oddly very little in the way of discussion of all the surplus armoured vehicles NZ has lying around. There also appears to be an assumption that NZ has very little military equipment it could give, which is not true.

From my research into what the Ukrainians want in terms of hardware I don't think they are worried about the make and model of equipment, they just want whatever they can get their hands on, and they are quite capable of learning how to operate it. Also, armoured vehicles are one of the items they want.

My plan is still to start engaging with the NZ government on this issue once we get to 1000 supporters. The faster we can get there, the faster NZ can start supplying the types of equipment Ukraine needs to help end this brutal invasion.
