Help Stray Cats: Sutherland Shire Council to Fund Desexing

The issue

I am the founder of My Local Catmmunity, a dedicated cat rescue charity, operating in the heart of the Sutherland Shire. Every day, I witness the plight of stray cats, innocent animals struggling to survive in uncertain environments. It's a heartbreaking reality that many of these cats face, including poor living conditions, the spread of diseases, and a constant fight for food and resources.

Currently, our charity is working tirelessly to rescue, care for, and find loving homes for these animals. However, one persistent challenge we face is the overwhelming number of stray cats, which we are unable to reduce sustainably without sufficient desexing efforts. Desexing is not just a minor concern, it is a critical step in controlling and eventually decreasing the stray cat population, ensuring healthier and safer environments for both the cats and our community.

Despite our best efforts, the costs associated with desexing are steep and a drain on our limited resources. Without financial support, our ability to make a significant impact is greatly hindered.

We are calling on the Sutherland Shire Council to allocate funds specifically aimed at funding subsidies for stray cat desexing. Such a commitment from the council would not only alleviate the financial burden on rescues but would also demonstrate a commitment to animal welfare.

Committing funds for desexing subsidies is a solution that could lead to a noticeable decrease in stray cat numbers. It would subsequently reduce the number of cats needing urgent rescue and improve the overall quality of life in our community. It’s a step towards a more compassionate and humane society.

By signing this petition, you're urging the Sutherland Shire Council to take action and support this vital cause. Join us in making a real difference, please sign and share this petition today!
