Petition updateHelp Stop My Husband's Deportation to TortureA Guy Named Moe: 20 Years Resisting Secret Trials and Deportation to Torture for Ottawa's Moe Harkat
Matthew BehrensOttawa, Canada
Jun 4, 2022

Learn about our in-person/online June 8 event and how you can support below! For 20 years, Ottawa refugee Mohamed (Moe) Harkat has fought against the specious, unfounded allegations of the scandal-plagued Canadian Security Intelligence Service. Those lies have been used to imprison him almost four years (over one year in solitary confinement), condemn him and his wife Sophie to one of the most intrusive state surveillance systems ever imposed on someone in this country, and threaten Moe with deportation to torture.

On June 8, join us at First Unitarian Congregation, 30 Cleary Ave., Ottawa (just north of Richmond Road) for selections from the award-winning film, The Secret Trial Five, live music, and updates on a legal case whose repercussions will impact the state of Canadian democracy for decades to come. If you cannot join us in person on June 8, please join us online. The evening is hosted by Dr. Monia Mazigh, a renowned Canadian author (Hope and Despair, Mirrors and Mirages, Hope Has Two Daughters) and professor who led a campaign to free her husband Maher Arar from torture in a Syrian prison.

Learn how you can get involved in ending a human rights abuse that, sadly, is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the ongoing surveillance, harassment, and persecution of Muslims in Canada.

To contribute to the “20 for 20” Fund – we are trying to raise $20,000 to meet critical legal and medical expenses for Moe as he is now suffering from post-polio syndrome and can no longer earn an income – send an etransfer (no security question needed) to donate@justiceforharkat.com

For cheque donations, please make cheques payable to Justice for Mohamed Harkat Committee and mail it to:
