HELP STOP 260 HOUSES BEING BUILT ON BOWES FIELD NATURE RESERVE/CYGNET DRIVE
OVER 1,200+ OBJECTION SIGNATURES — PLEASE HELP US PROTECT BOWESFIELD PARK AND NATURE RESERVE
Thank you to everyone who has signed and shared our petition opposing the proposed 260 houses being built at Bowesfield Park, Stockton-on-Tees.
Our petition has attracted more than 1,200 + signatures of objection. This represents a substantial level of concern among residents and people who care about protecting this area.
But our campaign is not over.
The current planning application, 26/0896/FUL, raises serious concerns about the impact of this application on the surrounding community and environment.
These include:
* Wildlife and habitats: the loss of green space and potential harm to wildlife and the surrounding nature reserve.
* Flooding and drainage: concerns about surface-water runoff, existing drainage problems and the potential effects on the nearby river and ponds.
* Traffic and road safety: the additional pressure on already busy roads and junctions, including the consequences of further development in the surrounding area.
* Infrastructure and amenities: whether local roads, schools, public transport and other services can accommodate further housing.
* Parking and community space: the loss of valued open space and concerns about where residents and visitors will park.
* Public engagement: residents have raised concerns about the consultation process, the difficulty of obtaining clear information and the need for a proper opportunity to have their concerns heard.
A previous proposal for 265 homes was refused in September 2024. We believe the current application must be examined carefully, with proper consideration of the planning history, environmental consequences and cumulative impact of development in the area.
* Also in July 2025 the builders formally withdrew there application of appeal. How could this proposal even be reconsidered. The right descion was made in September 2024 when the planning application was refused.
WE ARE ASKING FOR A PUBLIC MEETING BEFORE A DECISION IS MADE.
Residents deserve a meaningful opportunity to explain their concerns directly and receive answers about the potential consequences for their community.
