Help secure the future of Brighton’s only community-owned pub.
The Issue
The Bevy isn’t just another pub. It’s Brighton’s only community-owned pub on a housing estate, owned and run by local people through East Brighton Trust (EBT).
For more than twelve years, local people have poured their blood, sweat and beers into building something special. Today, The Bevy is a thriving, profitable pub that’s proved a community-owned business can work. It’s a proper local where people come together over a pint, families enjoy free meals and activities, neighbours catch up over a coffee, live music fills the room and everyone gets the same warm welcome.
The community owns the business, but not the building.
For the first time since reopening in 2014, we have the chance to change that. Before we can buy the freehold, we need to protect it by securing Asset of Community Value status. That gives us the time we need to raise the money and keep The Bevy where it belongs — in community hands.
This isn’t about saving a struggling pub. We’ve already proved the model works. This is about protecting everything that happens inside these four walls for future generations.
If you believe every neighbourhood deserves a proper local like The Bevy, please support our Asset of Community Value application. Every signature helps us take one step closer to securing The Bevy for good.
