The Issue

York County SC residents only please:

Say YES to saving the lives of our York County animals!

Say YES to putting accountability on pet owners, not on us, the taxpayers!

Say YES to an achievable solution!

Say YES to seeking a SPAY/NEUTER resolution for York County!

  • Did you know that on average 3000 unwanted pets enter our York County shelter every year?
  • Did you know that 87% of stray dogs that come into the shelter and almost 100% of stray cats are not spayed and neutered?
  • Did you know that 82% of dogs that enter OUR shelter are Bully breeds?
  • Did you know that unneutered male dogs are involved in 70-76% of reported dog bite incidents? (American Veterinary Medical Assoc).
  • Did you know that Bully breeds and other medium to large dogs can have a minimum of 10 pups a litter x 2 a year= 20 puppies a year?
  • Did you know that cats can start reproducing at 4 months of age and have 3 litters a year averaging 5 a litter =15 kittens a year?
  • Did you know that in our community there are Low Cost No Cost Spay Neuter programs that have been available for the last 10 years?
  • Did you know that despite the free spay neuter programs and rescue grassroots effort to educate, we are still unable to make a dent in the  bully breed overpopulation?
  • Did you know it would be impossible to rehome, rescue, or house the number of unwanted animals that exist?
  • Did you know that the shelter employees struggle every week with decisions that haunt them because owners are not held accountable?

But we can FIX this problem by FIXING the animals in our community.

Please help YOUR county animals by signing below.

Thank you,
