Seeking Justice and Freedom for the wildlife of #KoalaParkSanctuary
The issue
A sanctuary is by definition a place of safety and protection for native animals.
Far from providing refuge; Koala Park Sanctuary in the north-western Sydney suburb of West Pennant Hills, is the animal equivalent of an internment camp with living conditions being abysmal.
Throughout the park, there are scenes of sick and distressed animals living in poor conditions; emaciated, depressed, dehydrated and not moving in their dusty and smelly stretch of dirt which is their home.
On 01 February 2016, the sanctuary was convicted of the charge 'failing to provide veterinary treatment', resulting in a fine totaling $75,000 as well as a ban on acquiring new koalas for six months.
Despite the conviction, our Government is allowing to park to continue operating. With the abuse and neglect being ongoing over many years -- how many more animals need to die before our Government takes action?
Please sign my petition asking NSW Premier Mike Baird and The Hon. Niall Mark Blair, MLC to cancel the parks licence under section 30 (1) (a) of the Exhibited Animals Protection Act 1986; and relocate the parks wildlife to suitable sanctuaries and care providers before it's too late!
